Altough once the most used management system for small and medium-sized enterprises was certainly Navision, which later became Microsoft Dynamics NAV, now the reference is surely Dynamics 365 Business Central, a business management solution for automating and simplifying business processes that facilitates company management. And it’s still a Microsoft ERP system.

Software-as-a-Service

The cloud edition is in the form of Software-as-a-Service; Users can obtain a licence for a software and use it without installing it on their servers, either physical or virtual.

On-premise

The classic on-premise edition can be installed on your own server or from a hosting provider. This version is called “Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premise”.

Hybrid solution

Microsoft wants to offer customers the advantage of experimenting the cloud solution without giving up having the software on their own server. There is an hybrid option with which you can install Dynamics 365 Business Central on-premise, but still have the on-premise installation synchronized with the cloud thanks to the “Intelligent Edge”. You can have full control of the operation and updates, still having a SaaS cloud version of the solution at the same time.
